According to the CareQuest Institute for Oral Health, 76.5 million adults in the U.S. do not have dental insurance and many go without preventative dental treatment and procedures they need, simply because they do not have the financial means to pay for it.
Oral health is vital to a person’s overall health and well-being. Common dental issues such as cavities and gum disease can affect not only your ability to speak or eat properly, but if left untreated, can lead to many problems:
- Issues such as tooth loss, tooth misalignment, or periodontal disease
- Periodontal disease-related heart disease, diabetes, oral cancer, stroke, and kidney disease
- The need for lengthy, expensive dental work to correct
- Self-esteem and confidence issues
People who are unable to regularly visit the dentist have the opportunity to receive select services provided during Free Dentistry Day events to improve the quality of not just their oral health, but their overall health and well-being.
